Impermanence…

Recently we sold Zara’s first riding Pony, Sands.

With riding, the kids grow and need to move on to bigger ponies, and you can’t keep the smaller ones.

That logic doesn’t make it any easier parting with a pony that has become part of the family.

I’ve been studying Buddhism for a while, and a big part of that is being aware of the impermanence of everything.

The last day we spent with Sands was so special. We hung out with him, went on a lovely ride at the river, and just enjoyed our time with him. But knowing we were dropping him to his new home at the end of the day was an ever-present reality.

It was a stark reminder that our time with Sands was impermanent, and it was tough.

And it made me realise I have a long way to go on my Buddhist journey.
