Generic advice, devastating consequences…

We should eat more leafy greens, go plant based, eat fish not red meat, don’t eat dairy…

Who’s heard this advice?

I heeded it for eight years. And through that time, I became progressively more tired and skinny.

I just had my genetics tested.

Turns out I don’t process oxalates well (i.e. leafy greens are not good for me), fish oil messes with my methylation pathways (I should eat red meat, not fish), and dairy is good calcium for my iron metabolism.

So, heeding ‘good advice’ I was poisoning myself.

It reminds me that if anyone is giving generic advice, if anyone is touting ‘the answer’, then run a mile!
