Leverage can change the world
Recently the World Medical Association ratified a change to the Declaration of Geneva, the modern-day Hippocratic Oath and the value-set of doctors worldwide, to include the health and wellbeing of doctors.
This changes the value for doctors prioritising their health, which intern leads to them practicing better medicine, and this leads to improvement in health outcomes for everyone on Earth.
I made that happen with my team.
A few years ago, I was speaking on wellbeing to a group of medical students, then the President of the New Zealand Medical Association spoke about the profession and shared the Declaration of Geneva.
I live to evolve the status quo, so when he shared the Declaration of Geneva I realised that this was my opportunity to change the world.
So, I started a petition, I started lobbying the WMA, and we got it done.
“Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world.”
Archimedes
In your life, in your business, what is the point of leverage that you can apply pressure to, to have the maximum impact?
You might know what it is, you might not, but stay aware and you’ll find it.
You can’t change the world using brute force because you simply won’t have enough.
But with the right lever you really can change the world.
